Size: 80" x 48" (203 x 122 cm). CAROL DIEHL is an American artist, critic and poet. She is best known for her paintings which have often documented daily life using dense and painterly words, numbers and symbols in grid or geometric frameworks. Her work has been exhibited at the Queens Museum of Art; the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum; Sidney Janis Gallery, New York; the Berkshire Museum; and Richard Sena Gallery, among others. Reviews of her work have appeared in Art in America, ARTnews, the New York Times, the Village Voice, and the Chicago Tribune. Diehl is the recipient of fellowships from the New York Foundation for the Arts, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, the MacDowell Colony for the Arts and the Millay Colony for the Arts. Diehl was also an active member of New York's performance poetry scene of the 1990's, and has read her poetry in performance at St. Mark's Poetry Project, the Knitting Factory, and the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, and has appeared with Butch Morris's "Chorus of Poets" at The Public Theater, the Whitney Museum of American Art and Lincoln Center, New York. Her poetry is included in the anthology Aloud: Voices from the Nuyorican Poets Cafe (Henry Holt and Company), winner of the 1994 National Book Award. A prolific art critic, Deihl has also contributed features and reviews to numerous periodicals, including Art in America, ARTnews, and Art + Auction, as well as books and artist catalogues. Diehl currently lives and works in New York City and southwestern Massachusetts
