Description:

Dervish Hat with Flowers, Early 20th C. This embroidered hat is from Tehran and is crafted from 0.14-inch thick wool felt. It features a cross with wide arms, beautifully embroidered in green, blue, ivory, and black, covering most of the hat. Two opposite interstices are filled with orange embroidery, while a third one showcases a candle and floral designs. The fourth interstice is adorned with an ornate prayer niche and inscriptions in Arabic that read: 'Teach all you know to your student, just as a needle does on embroidery.'
