Mike McCollum (American, 20th C.) 3 Ceramic Works, signed. Size: ranging from 3.5'' x 4.75'' x 2.5'' (9 x 12 x 6 cm) to 10'' x 5'' x 3.5'' (25 x 13 x 9 cm). Provenance: The Robert L. Pfannebecker Collection. Artist Biography: Born in Hoquiam, Washington, Mike is a lifelong artist by nature, training, and practice. Many of Mike's artistic sensibilities were developed while in the San Francisco Bay Area in the '60's and '70's receiving an MA and MFA from UC Berkeley apprenticing with influential ceramicist/sculptor Peter Voulkos. In 1980, Mike was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts individual fellowship grant. Mike McCollum's academic career is long and commendable; twenty-six years at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) as Professor of Art, five years as dean of the Fine and Performing Arts College at UNLV and five years as academic dean at The Cornish College of Arts in Seattle. Mike McCollum has been creating and exhibiting his artwork since 1964. He is known for his personal style and competency across diverse mediums from bronze casting and ceramics to drawing, painting and printmaking. For the last decade he has been working with wood and resin creating both 2-D and 3-D work. Mike's extensive exhibition record includes shows in NYC, SF Bay Area, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Maine, and the Olympic Peninsula. He has participated as an artist-in-residence at Magnolia Editions in Oakland, CA and the Robert MacNamara Foundation in Westport, Maine.
